Champu is a Sanskrit literary style. It was developed after the era of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas, and the other Mahakavyas and was a later development in the style of writing. It is neither a poem nor a prose but is a transition period between poem and prose in Sanskrit literature. The major works are mainly by the Jain sages, though there are some works are by non Jain authors also.
